Here are the pictures I took of the IL2. It is a very cool airplane. The first one I have ever seen. I reached up and grabbed the tail gun and it just rattled around in there. It has just been thrown in the back. It looks in bad shape too.

This Il-2 might in fact be an Il-10...

Cool shots!

Looks like and old instructional aide.

Is it made mostly out of steel? It sure is rusty.

Thanks for the pics, Comrade!

Hi Ollie, Jesse!

I think you both are right. Brandon sent me pictures of the plane about three years ago and he described it as an IL10, and an instructional platform. I just reread his email. His pictures and the IL10 is the reason I wanted to go there. His pictures are very good. I won't post them because they are his, but the place looked very different then.

The P61 is cool, but I personally think the IL10 is cooler.

(Brandon, if you're reading this, can you post your pictures too?)

The Il-2 and Il-10 had an enormous amount of steel plate around the cockpit section and engine. The aircraft might well have been a training aide, but I believe it is an original airframe.

Cheers,
Richard

I have to find them and upload them again. If you have them handy, feel free to do so! LIke I said before, they have definitely done some weed control since I was there last. BTW, I should be there again in about 3 weeks. Were you able to go to any of the other museums?

Thanks Man!

I went to the old palace too. I loved it. I could spend a lifetime in there looking at stuff.

Here are the pictures,

I asked and was allowed behind the fence, but access was kind of limited without a machete!

Sure would be nice to see that flying. Kinda makes me sad seeing it rotting out there... :(

The steel tub of a broken up Il-10 which protected the pilot and the rear gunner. I took this pic at the Aircraft Museum in Vyskov, Czech Republic.
