Post subject:  State of the site address

Greetings friends and Happy New year.

The site saw record growth in 2006 with over a million and a half visitors. The growth has been exponential and we should see two million plus visitors in 2007.

In 2006 we launched warbirds-online.org and Dan Johnson worked miracles and got the WIX archives only. The registry swelled considerably and the WIX online technical manual library was founded, though it is still small at the moment.

On the good side revenue has been consistant, on the bad side bandwith costs have quadrupeled. We will be looking at doing some fundraiser activities in a few months. The first will most likely be overpriced patches ;)

I want to welcome Ryan Keough once again. He has stepped up and is in the process of revamping the gateway pages on a majority of the site (they look amazing and should be up soon).

I want to welcome Tom Kwiatkowski of the 1941 Historic Aircraft Group for joining the Warbirds-Online staff with his This Week in Military Aviation History column, I look forward to learning more about Military Aviation in 2007.

Coming up in 2007 is a planned revamping of the Luftwaffe and USAAF Resource centers as well as the creation of a new Vietnam Aviation Resource Center. The registry will expand like always and I hope the WIX library will as well. The WIXcast #2 is in the works and has a January 30, 2007 posting deadline. We will try to get get them out on a monthly basis. We will also be producing out first WIXvidcast this summer from Geneseo, the Mustang gathering and possibly Thunder Over Michigan.

All that and much more is planned for the Warbirds Resource Group this year. I hope that as we grow you will continue to visit and grow with us.

Before I close this up, I want to thank everybody who has contributed photos and info in the last few years. Currently I have a backlog of over 3500 emails as well as over 10000 pictures submitted on DVD. Currently I am the only coder for the registry and I am working as fast as I can so if I haven't used your picture yet, don't worry, I will eventually.

If you know HTML or HTML editing and want to help with the registry or with other sections (I would love to get someone who could help develop the Vietnam Aviation Resource Center) then let me know and we can figure out something for you to do.

Thanks everyone and here's to another great year!

Scott, to you and all those involved with technical support, a thousand "thank you's".

I think you do an absolutely masterful job with the entire site.

Hey Scott,

I am not a wizard at HTML but that is all I use to build my web sites so I can help with the registry. As long as there is a template I should be able to help. Drop me a PM with some projects when you want me to give it a shot.

This si a great site, with a ton of good people on it. I think it is great that if you have a question about a warbird, that in many cases you can just e-mail the pilot, owner , or mech.

I too have had some website development experience and would love to help out any way I can.

For an example, here is the last website I created for a Corvette club I was a member of. http://www.togcc.org/

I'll give 50% of the profit of any of my photos reprints sold to a wixer to Scott to help with the site. Between the auctions I think I've sent in around $350-$400 so far.
