The Abingdon, VA Kiwanis Club is sponsoring their 2nd annual Wings and Wheels show at the Abingdon airport Saturday, July 25th. They have posted this website with information:

http://www.abingdonkiwanis.org/fundrais ... heels.html

The local Bristol paper has an article on the show:

http://www.tricities.com/tri/news/local ... _25/29023/

The story reports there will be flying acts and the following aircraft in attendance:

Pitts Special, Russian YAK, AT-6 Texan, P-51 Mustang and a DC-3

Nice line-up for a small show.

I made a quick stop over at the Kiwanis Wings & Wheels Airshow in Abingdon, VA Saturday (and I do mean quick - I made one walk up and down the flight line for a total of about 10 minutes). Very nice turnout of civilian aircraft of all types. Scott Yoak brought down the P-51 Quicksilver, Bob Ford had his AT-6 Paradise there, the Remote Area Medical DC-3 had long lines of people going in for a look, a couple of Pitts Specials were parked on the flightline as well as a bright yellow Cub. The RadioActive Airshows group had a fantastic collection of giant scale remote control airplanes to show off. I didn't bring my camera along, but did snap a couple of pictures with my cell phone. Hopefully next year this event will fall on a weekend other than my daughter's birthday!
