We will be having our third annual Fly-In May 19, 2012 at Hondo. We will be commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Field and also honoring the AVG. Our hope is to have at least one represenative type of every aircraft based at Hondo thru-out her history. These aircraft include: WWII Navigator training.............AT-7, (C-45)
B-34
C-47
C-60
Korean Pilot training...................AT-6
T-28
T-34
L-21
1960s-2010.............................. T-41
T-6II
T-3
I know that last one will be a challenge as the USAF in their wisdom shredded all of them at Hondo a few years ago. Maybe one survived in an underground bunker! If not a Slingsby may be close enough.
We will of course welcome all warbirds and have allready signed up P-51, T-28, AT-6,Tiger Moth, L-Birds and a few more. We hope to have as many P-40s as possible to honor the AVG and Tex Hill.
Anyone in the area that has one of these or any Warbird that would like to attend please let me know.

This is Hondo-related. I've been researching my WWII MIA cousin, 1st Lt. Edwin E. Scranton, for over 18 years. (He's still MIA in what now is part of Bangladesh.) As a cadet of the 88th Nav Training Gp at Hondo, Ed graduated from Hondo July 15, 1943, in Class 43-10. Although I have a few items from that training period (hometown graduation story, Apr. 1943 Log Magazine, class graduation list, Ed's postgrad transfer orders to OTU/McDill), I'm been unable to locate a 43-10 class yearbook (if there was one), the July 1943 Log Magazine, or anyone present at Hondo during the Mar.-July 1943 time frame who knew Scranton. I'm seeking someone who has one or more of these items who would be kind enough to either scan/email parts of them to me or be willing to loan same for a guaranteed prompt return.

I'm a newbie here. Am I correct that there is no way to attach photos? (Unless it is through my Users Control Panel.) If it were possible to do so, I could display a couple of related pics.

Incidentally, my late aunt was an Air Wac stationed at Dalhart Field, TX, during the war.

We are in the process of establishing a Museum at Hondo, and will see what I can find. Would be interested in seeing what pictures you do have if you can figure it out. (Myself I don't have a clue)

Don't know if they moved to Stinson or what. SAT is not the same, I get lost walking around in the new POS.
