Post subject:  Airshow participant safety

I noticed that there was more than one accident at Oshkosh, with some fatalities. I’m not pointing at EAA specifically, but the bigger question is what can be done to enhance safety? Some of these venues are very crowded and busy, and pilots of varying skill levels attend.

I flew out there in 1992 in a Cessna 195 and with no parking available I had to divert to Fon Du Lac. The number of aircraft in the air and on the ground is astounding at this venue.

I know that the FAA specially trains the controllers and some recent changes have been made, but is there more that can be done? I know there are a lot of YouTube videos about Oshkosh arrivals as well.

The acceptable numbers of accidents and fatalities should be zero.
