Ground crews

Greeting all,
Recently I decided to start setting up ground crews for air show displays. I am a fully qualified crew chief and after 23 years decided it was time to add to the airshows a little known side of the AAF. Below are some of our photos from recent events. ENJOY!

Hi Scott;
You're display looks great! It's nice to see the "Worker Bees" represented in Re-enacting!
Check out the sites below for info/help/links etc.
They are the WWII Airmen's Preservation Society and have several units.
I've been a member since 1989 and usually portray a mechanic.

Thanks Jerry,
I have been in touch with some fellows in APS as well as I have the yahoo ground crews website. After fixing airplanes for 23 years I decided to portray a crew chief as seems no one knows what was and is done by them. Thanks again!

Hey Scott!
Do you need a Crusty old Coffee drinking First Sergeant running around the flightline too?
I've worked flightline duty for some of the local Airshows. Got to marshal a number of Jets and help the pilots put em to bed for the night.
Looks like you have a nice set up. The only question I have is how do you handle the tool control/CTK issue? LOL!

Sure, the more the merrrier. As for tool control we just don't say anything.
I just returned from Turkey and had a D-1 jacket made so the next AAF display in March I will get more photos out.

i've got 2 ww2 aaf b-1 mechanic's aprons for sale, 25 bucks each + shipping if interested, just add tools & wear for a great look at air shows. 1 like new, & 1 that shows good honest use. made of canvas. your choice, just let me know.

Tom,
Thanks for info on the aprons but I already have 4. Also all the research and talking to WW2 crewchiefs seems the only people who wore the aprons were the "back shop" folks, ususally if they were rebuilding engines or items that demanded staying put and needing a lot more tools than you could carry in your pockets.
