Although I don't consider myself a re-enactor, my wife an I do like to dress as close to period as we can for a CAF hanger dance we attend each year. I guess I'm lucky enough to have a wife that puts up with most of my warbird obsession. I'd really like to see WIXers post couples photos of themselves and there signifiant other in period dress?

And yes I know I'm to old, to fat, and am not wearing a dress uniform to a dance in 100 dregree heat. But I get to drink a lot of beer, dance with a beautiful women, and listen to some great music! If this is also your thing let see 'em!

Thanks Scotty! Miss you guys! Now you got to post a couples shot and Murph doesn't count as your + 1. I'm sure there's photos of +1's floating around somewhere from last years B/C?

I disagree, I think both you and your companion look just right!
Your uniform looks very good for a stateside instructor impression, but I'm pretty sure that the training tab on top of your AAF patch is very much postwar. Otherwise, it's very correct.
And having a collection of photos from a WW2 stateside training field in Florida, it's common to see people in the cotton tans than dress uniforms where you'd normally see them in climates that aren't that hot.

Ken, I'd say you both look FANTASTIC! Here's us at the Valentine's Day Hangar Dance at the Military Aviation Museum in 2010:

There are lot of vendors for the Men's stuff for uniforms (a simple Google search will find most of them), but reproduction correct women's clothes is something that you really have to look for.
My wife looked for a nice dress she could wear to events like this as she had nothing that looked 1940s. She really shocked me by getting a dress from here: http://store.nationalww2museum.org/browse.cfm/dresses/2,436.html
We'd seen these in the museum store when we were there in September (I wasn't too impressed with the museum itself gfor their store was pretty good), and she ordered one there. They stock modern women's sizes, too! :drink3:

Now, all I need is to get to want some 1940s eyeglasses and figure out what hairstyle would work for her from that timeframe (I couldn't find anything about hairstyles for short hair from that era before the event this photo was taken at)...

John, i'm possitive the stuff Scotty sent you in the PM is going to be good. I like whatpriceglory.com for my stuff. Everything I have purchased has fit spot on and wears really well. As for the wife, she likes pinupgirlclothing.com. That is where she purchased the dress she is wearing in the photo I posted.

Ken

Ken, you had better be at the Eagle Field fly-in this June 1st wearing that outfit, and you should bring your beauitful wife with you :-) While you are at it, talk Taigh into bringing the bomber.
