I'm looking for a 1960s/70s British Army officer's dress uniform.
Okay, it's a geek thing, I'm looking to recreate a class Dr Who uniform but I want to do it right and I have zero clue where to start. Any help from the UK would be greatly apreciated:

Step one: Get someone you know and trust to measure you. There are no vanity sizes in uniforms, and you may be surprised by the real numbers vs what you thought you wore.
Step one (a: Translate those measurements into metric NATO sizes. This may not be 100% necessary, but better to do it first.

What you are looking for is the No.2 Service Dress - The military equivalent of a business suit with tie and jacket.
Officer's uniforms are usually tailored, so there will be either a variation from the tagged size, or no tagged size at all.
Buttons are often considered controlled insignia, and UK uniforms are often surplussed without them. (Not a biggie if you want to do UNIT, they wouldn't have UK regimental buttons anyway)

Armed with real measurements, and a few keywords, hit eBay.

You can also look for a pre Unification* (pre-1968) Canadian Army uniform. Pattern should be close enough, and shipping will be lower.

*not that unification - different 'verse

The problem here is I don't know what I'm looking for and want to get it right. I was hoping some UK collector might be able to steer me to a vendor who could help directly.
