Model Airplanes

Hi fellow modelers. I have been building models since I was ten. I will soon be 80. I retired after 48 years as an A&P mechanic with Mohawk/ Allegheny/ USAir/ and USAirways. I started as a mechanic on DC-3's, and finished as a maintenance inspector on 727, 737, 757, 767, Airbus A-319,320,321, and 330,with many others along the way.
I enjoy building the old stick and tissue rubber powered stuff, but do fly electric. I also have a couple oc control liers that I fly occaisionally.
I also collect old ignition model plane engines and gas powered race cars.
In the future, I will post photos of some of my planes, many of which have been depicted in Flyin Models Magazine.

Welcome to the WIX Bruce! While my current passion is r/c scale I started out building rubber powered scale stuff and did control line for a few years as well before moving into r/c. Nothing is more challenging, nor more rewarding, than free flight though and I often lament the fact that I don't have time for it any longer. There is just only so many hours in the day! I will certainly be looking forward to your pictures.

Welcome indeed! You'll find plenty of inspiration and more help willingly given than you'd expect. I'm retired too out of an MRO and as an Instructor to Boeing mechanics on CFRP. sit back and enjoy the ride.

I look forward to your pics as well. I still build stick and tissue now and then, usually from vintage kits or plans. It is totally nuts to do so nowadays, as it takes so much effort to build and so little time to destroy compared with foam, but they have a great charm and nostalgia factor.

Welcome Bruce. I fly electric rc models as well. I have only been doing it for 3 1/2 years and have no real building skills. Unfortunately with all the kits and ARF's out there, the scratch builders are becoming a dieing breed. I am a photographer for Model Airplane News and Fly RC magazine and I look forward to seeing photos of your models.
