Not sure this is the right forum, but it is in relation to a model I am about to start.

I am in the research phase for the Revell P-47N Thunderbolt 1/48. I am leaning towards the 464th 507th markings for Lil' Meaties markings.

I ran across some posts regarding the tail markings, that the squadron or group could be identified by this. I have not been able to locate anything about what that particular groups markings were. The box depicts a blue diagnol stripe on the verticle and horizontal stabs. I have seen other P-47's with a triangle, and one picture with a heart.

A point in the right direction would be much appreciated!

From what I've been able to turn up on Google, the markings you specify seem to be correct. The 464th FS had the entire vertical and horizontal tails panted yellow, with a blue diagonal stripe on the tail and a blue stripe on the left horizontal stablizer, as well as yellow bands on the wings. All the photos I could find of the actual aircraft only show the nose art, but the rest of the aircraft should be in the standard squadron markings.

Same fighter group, but different squadron. Without digging further into my references, I'm assuming the yellow tail and wing bands are the group markings, with the blue marking designating the squadron. Here's a profile I found of "Li'l Meaties." It came from the Russian website "Wings Palette," which is notorious for ignoring copyrights and using art from dubious sources. This appears to come from one of the Squadron Publications books, which are usually pretty reliable.
