Texas Antique Flyin

Mon Jun 07, 2004 8:40 am

Anyone in North Texas might want to know that the Texas Chapter of the AAA is having their flyin up in Gainesville (GLE) on June 11, 12, 13. SAT the 12th will be the big day. Usually get a large number of Anitques and Classics with a few Warbirds thrown in.

More info on the web site. www.geocities.com/texasaaa

I'll be out there with my 170 weather permitting.

I think you mean the XNQ ? It was a prototype built by Fairchild trying to compete with the Temco T-35 and the Beech model 45 (T-34) and of course we know who one. There is currently a restored XNQ-1 flying, kind of looks like a T-28 taildragger. I'll scan and send you a picture..............Roger

As Roger states it was a trainer trying to get in on the T34/T28 era market. Obviously it didnt win! I always tell people it looks like a small taildragger T28. Don Pellegreno owns it and is based a few miles west of Justin, Texas. It was covered in a Sport Aviation article awhile back. Neat bird!
