According to the National Geographic article:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/05/150528-amelia-earhart-spink-marshall-islands-aviation/Spink now has the expertise of Parker (Actually Parker Hannifin:

to resolve if the pieces of aluminum found on Mili came from a 1936 Lockheed Electra. (Ric disputes the expertise of Parker to do do this, what chutspah!)
GOOD!!!!
It appears that some airplane crashed or washed ashore on Mili, they do have those pieces of aluminum after all. I doubt that it will prove to be Earhart's plane but it comes from SOME plane. Hopefully the scientific analysis of the aluminum will establish what kind of plane it came from, WW2 U.S. aluminum or Japanese aluminum seem most the likely candidates. If this is accomplished it will put to rest all those oral stories of someone's uncle, grandfather, etc, that saw an airplane on Mili by providing an explanation for what they say their uncle, etc. told them.
Spinks investigation has the potential to finally put the final nail in the coffin of the Mili island Earhart story.
My fingers are crossed.
