That's an R-1820 in case you were wondering...around 800 more ponies than the original.

WOW!
Thanks for that Dan. What a beauty. Seeing craftsmanship like that makes me feel like a hack :?
I can't imagine the commitment, but WOW!

That must be some R-1820, if it really does push out around 1,500hp!

More like 1425hp...Wright R-1820-86B. Nice "sleeper" QED! It should raise a few eyebrows hanging out at the burger stand with the other vintage racers when the racing for "pinks" happens later!

Unfortunately it appears the builder of this QED has gone west....

Rest in Peace and Thank You for recreating these pieces of history

The QEB flew for the first time today at Olympia Airport (KOLM) in the expert hands of Carter Teeters. Carter has been conducting taxi tests all week and wanted to get it in the air before poor weather set in next week. Only a few squawks; loose flying wires, and some brake problems.

Otherwise, he said "it really wants to fly fast" during the one, large traffic pattern he flew. Appropriately, Mr. Moss's ashes were in the back seat for the flight.

I thought they parked that one up about 3 years ago. Have they started flying it again?
