I have been gathering all the necessary parts to upgrade my Gipsy Major to the 145hp 1C for my Auster project. I'm now down to only needing one thing, one Alloy cylinder head. If anyone has one or knows of one please let me know as a 3 cylinder Gipsy Major will not cut it!

Cheers Andy. Lucked out with a chap in the UK who was selling off some early model heads (as in non Chipmunk heads!) Should be winging there way south today. Postage wasn't too bad....just glad they weren't Bronze heads!! What heads do you run on your Tiger Moth?

The engine that is currently in our Tiger has bronze heads, that were donated from the spare engine in my basement. (the originals were in rough shape) So far it hasn't skipped a beat.
The engine that I have in my basement is going to get equipped with the alloy heads that are on the shelf :D . This one has domed pistons and we have scored a set of brand new sodium filled exhaust valves with guides. We will completely dismantle and overhaul this unit then install it in CF-MAD when it's ready.

So the domed heads are the high compression ones correct? (I haven't looked at the ones I have as they are all wrapped up! So you going to turn it from a GM1 to a GM1C? (130HP to 145HP)
There are also different cylinder Head hold down studs and you need a big throat carb. The manual talks about needing different con-rods but the word on the street is you don't the 130HP ones are fine.
Good score on the valves and guides. I might have to find some myself then!
