Tallmantz Aviation Stearmans

Sun Aug 31, 2014 1:34 pm

Many years ago my dad owned one of the Tallmantz PT-17s. I remember reading in it's logs that it was bought and converted to a 450 hp airshow plane in 1946. It was flown by Tallman during those early post war years at airshows on the West Coast. Does anyone have any pics of old airshow Stearmans from that era?
Paint scheme unknown, but it had a 450 P&W engine, BT-13 wheels and a headrest installed similar to a Waco headrest. I think the N-number would've been N9090H.
Thanks

Scott Thompson's Aerovintage website has some great info on the a Tallmantz collection. Some of the links and info include lists of aircraft owned by Frank Tallman and Paul Mantz. My father's KR-21 was once in the collection and Scott's info was very helpful to my search.

Thanks so much. The plane was white with orange and gold trim when my father bought it. Haven't found a picture yet but maybe it was the same orange as that Gulfhawk I biplane. Thanks for the help.
