If everyone can indulge me with a little bit of shameless self-promotion: Even though I know I'm preaching to the choir here on WIX, all this talk about the "mighty TIGHAR" and the sheer amount of resources they consume made me want to post a link to this story regarding the work I've done on a Capital Airlines DC-3 crash in Clarksburg, MD on June 22, 1957. All this work was done with nothing but a lot of determination and some good old fashioned detective work:

The article managed to "shake the tree" and an 84 year old retired police officer reached out to me after this article ran. It turned out he was the first officer on the scene. I'm still hoping to locate members of Robert Thomas' family, but the trail has gone cold.

I did find Robert Thomas' family shortly after this post. It turns out they were looking for information on the crash, too., so the information I had was VERY welcome.

Thomas grew up in a flying family as Thomas' father ran the Lake Geneva Flying Service. The younger Thomas learned to fly in the Navy, flying MATS before going to work for Frontier Airlines and later with Capital. They kept everything, including the logbook with the unfinished entry from June 22, 1957.

Elizabeth please contact me. Your grandfather was friends with my father. I have been searching for the family. I have something to return to the family.
