Boeing has started using robots to apply paint on 777 wings. Masking is still a labor inensive process because of all the areas that require protection from 707 Gray, but it now only takes about 20 minutes to apply a coat of paint to both panels on a wing assembly instead of over an hour per side with a spray gun and multiple painters plus it saves around 60 lbs. and every pound not put on the outside means one more pound of melted dinosaurs inside.
