Hi Folks

I am working on an adding the P-51 racers "Miss Candace" and "Jeannie" to the High Planes range of model kits and am hoping for a little assistance.

There appears to have been a couple of different propellors fitted to the aircraft. I read somewhere that it had a prop from a North Star fitted, but the photos I have seen appear to be closer to an Aeroproducts one from a P-51K or P-51H. Does anyone have any definite information?

Secondly, I am hoping someone may recall what colour the interior and wheel wells were. I am guessing the cockpit was finished in a light gray when the turtle deck was installed, but that is just a guess. I am also guessing the wheel wells were left with their anti-corrosive paint rather than stripped.

Miss Candace had both a Mustang Ham Standard non-cuffed prop and an F-82 Aeroproducts prop. Depends on the year.
Jeannie always had a Ham Standard non-cuffed prop. It had blades from where ever some knowledgeable experts say it got them, but Dave Z liked the non-cuffed blades and on 1/72nd or 1/48th models one cannot tell the difference.

I'm going to counter what Chris said about Miss Candace.

In 1969 she ran the Ham-Std. un-cuffed prop. From Reno 1970 through Miami 1973 it ran a geared BEARCAT prop. At Reno '73 it was replaced by an Aeroproducts prop, but my photos show that from 1974 through when he sold it to Zeuschel/Sanders after Reno '78 it ran the Ham-Std again.

As Jeannie it ran same prop in 1979. After the Ham-Std was destroyed in the belly landing at Van Nuys a week before Reno '80, it ran a replacement 'cuffed' prop (and won with it), but came back in '81 with the North-Star blades.

That is to the best of my memory...but Chris was there too, so he may be right and me wrong, or somewhere inbetween.

The interior of the cockpit was always bare metal with a black instrument panel. Gear wells were natural metal as well.
