Complain? If some Board Anorak had put it in the right area, there would be no need for complaint.
Could you educate us how this is related to or is a Warbird? I'd really like to know.

Sabremech, the tie in was made years ago. Basically the Shuttle transport moved shuttles back and forth to support Shuttles that were flown on strictly DoD missions, as well as being partially funded by USAF and flown by many active duty crews.

We've been watching them dismantle it for weeks. It was more impressive to see it fly by at 100 ft with the Shuttle on top !

Sorry Rick, last I knew NASA wasn't a branch of the military service also there's no shuttle or shuttle transport that's going to be privately owned and operated. This has nothing to do with Warbirds.
I think it's time for Scott to start a Space section for all the space related topics. They don't belong in the main hangar.

Why are you making such a fuss about it? It clearly interests a lot of us since its a very historic air frame. Is the 747 a Warbird no but neither are some of the X series planes that are talked about on here as they never saw combat and were only prototypes.

You answered it quite clearly, "is the 747 a warbird, No".

So where should it go? General aviation? Military matters? Off-topic?

Not everything has to have a specific place. An occasional post with "no home" doesn't diminish the site in my opinion.

Off Topic sounds good to me unless Scott wants to create a new Space related section.

The problem is that it's not occasional. There's 2 space related threads right now in the main hangar and do you remember the MH370 Thread? None of it appropriate to the main hangar.

Over the years Scott has allowed current aviation and aerospace event topics in "The Hangar" unmolested...at least by his inaction. We've also had the occasional visit from the "Ministry of Discussion" whom attempted to cram all subject matter in a "proper" place. Really, if folks are irked by a current topic which offends their anal retentive fascination with categorization they can move on to more appropriate threads akin to their tastes. This here town IS big enough for all of us...

You made this comment on another thread recently. While I'm sure everyone appreciate your desire to keep the forum on the straight and narrow, I think you might be overlooking that many people who used to contribute also get/got tired of all of the armchair moderation, unnecessary rude comments, and infighting. I'm trying to figure out how hunting down every topic you aren't happy about how it was classified (I count 3 in the past 2 weeks) shaming the original poster, and then complaining about the moderation is going to bring any of those people back, let alone attract new people. I don't frequent this site as much as I used to but I was disappointed to come back to these comments. I happen to find the shuttle information interesting, and I think there is a crossover from an enthusiast point of view. Military vehicles and weapons aren't technically warbirds either but I like hearing about them too and I enjoy having some of the diversity in one place. You might not, but then again a wise man once said this:



This was on a WIX Hangar thread relating to a crash of a Thunder Mustang at Reno. Last I checked Thunder Mustangs racing at Reno have as much to do with Warbirds as does the shuttle. It might be a good idea to take this man's advice and if the topic isn't of interest, simply pass it by for one that is more interesting.

You have made some great contributions to this site and I have appreciated reading many of your posts. It would be nice if we could let others contribute what is interesting to them and perhaps others like me might find it interesting too. If you don't, there are plenty of other threads to read and respond to.

A 747 is a warbird. Air Force One is a 747 crewed by military personel and is the plane of the CIC.
