I just had a jet powered sailplane flying overhead around the house. At first I thought it was just one of the normal sailplanes we see many times a day until I realized the jet sounds were coming from it. I guess that beats using a tow plane and it is the first one I've ever seen.

Back in the 70s, I recall seeing one in FLYING, a Caproni 21J, IIRC.
A wonderfully streamlined ship with an elegant side-by-side cockpit pod that reminded me of a tadpole.
