Yeah Jack,

Love the 339th. Got anymore 504th FS, say in any B model Mustangs named Punkie (42-106886)?

Pretty please?

Awesome, Jack! One of your best posts yet. 8)

Fowlmere is now a GA field, but several buildings remain, including that big T2 hangar, at least when I was there in '02.

Check web-birds also for more of Dick's pictures. I got these 4
from a buddy the other day but also have these on my external in 20mb tiffs. I also have a bunch of Dick's slides from Korea where he flew in the
39th FS F-80s and F-51s. I think he was the respository for the 339th archives. I've got about 100 more shots from him on my external hard drive a friend is keeping for me but none of P-51B Punky. If you want to see the Korea stuff I'll try and post some of them.
Here's a couple more...............

No, I have hi-res scans of those four photos already...

I'll continue the rest of my thoughts in a PM, (h)as this forum has seen enough public displays of bitter disagreement recently...

Martin or any of the Mustang experts know what the presentation panal looks like up close that shows next to the pilot's right knee? I've seen other photos showing that same thing but never close enough to know what is written and how it looks.

Here's a nice shot of Dick Penrose's P-51D. He shot down a ME-109 flown by Herbert Buschmann in this a/c.
