Greetings All -

I have a substantial number of photos of various Vought aircraft from my numerous visits down to Grand Prairie, TX and the Vought Retiree's Club, keepers of the Vought historical archives. You'd be hard put to find a more wonderful and passionate group of men and women who are keeping the Vought history alive.

I plan on doing much what ArmyJunk2 has done for Long Island aviation history in photos - thanks to him for setting such a great example.

So.... I'll start off with some Corsairs!

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Hi Dave -

I have one or two but hope to scan more when I go back down to Vought later this Spring. In the meantime, you'll have to "endure" more USN and Marines markings :-)

Here's the next batch for your perusal and viewing pleasure...

Enjoy the Day! Mark

The P-51Ds by the B-29 are from the 531st FS 21st FG 7th AF on Iwo Jima around April 45.

In the seconed group of pictures Pic # 8 is that where the term comes from of sacking out on the deck ? I understand that was a commom affair on very hot nights in the South Sea's,is that true or were these guys just sticking closes to the Birds for a Fast Crank up ?

The 2 carrier shots towards the end are of Air Group 84 on the USS Bunker Hill. The yellow cowl markings were added for the first raids on Toyko and removed shortly afterwards.

Thank you Mark for these great photos. Can I ask if you can find, on your next visit, anything on the Vought Ve-10 or the Vought-Sikorsky VS-44 both flyingboats, I would appreciate.

Thank you

Greetings All -

1st off, Lewis, I'll put those two aircraft on my "looking for" list.

Here's some more Corsairs, including the only color images I have, for your perusal and viewing pleasure.

anyone know the story on the next two - "Baa Baa Black Sheep" footage or some other movie? Same aircraft on both pics.

and a detail shot of the cowling artwork - note too that it is stenciled F4U-4X. Anyone have a better shot of the artwork?
