Thanks, good to know. I hadn't seen one like that before.

Well, I probably shouldn't have, but I emailed this gentleman and while I apologized twice over the course of some emails for the linking (and that his father's images were great), I did call him out on his retaliation...

Basically, I learned that I'm an a******, I have no artistic talent, steal artwork from the past and claim it as my own, and I also found out that my generation can't come up with our own ideas and that he could care less about my (or anyone elses I am guessing) efforts to preserve the past so that future generations never forget.

I doubt that the owner of said site (I'm guessing he was the chubby one  to the right) or his buddy in the photo are far enough into puberty to be considered even be of "Jr. High" mentality
The bottom line on that nonsense -- that person must be in need of some serious assistance with his mental health. It is such a shame that he chose to desecrate a memorial to his father with such despicable "retaliation".

Kevin,

Tar Baby was 42-51311. Sorry I didn't add that to my earlier post. I did a little more digging but I can't tell if she was a Carpetbagger or used for Pathfinder work. I'm leaning toward Carpetbagging as I can't see a radome where the ball would be. The Mickey dome usually sticks out just a bit when retracted, and I don't see one. Not sure though.....

That last photo looks like he's painting over some old artwork, doesn't it? Judging from some of the sheetmetal work on the nose, this may be one of the B-24Ds that had tail turrets grafted on in Hawaii or Australia. It appears to have braced pitot masts, also.

Yeah, maybe it was reassigned and the new crew wanted new art?

"The plane shown was "Rebel Gal" a B-24H. She flew 89 sorties, 72 were flown with 489th BG (485th BS) and 17 with 392nd BG (578th BS).

It appears that this photo and the next set you posted are actually all PB4Y-1s. Notice the multi-angled doubler on each of the airplanes and that you can see the ERCO turret on Maid 'O The Mist.

I noticed that too, at least the one with the turret. Makes sense that the others are as well.

Sleepy Time Gal has an Erco--you can see the "homemade" upper fairing between the turret and fuselage.
