Living in Yellowknife, I photograph these guys on a regular basis. Thought you guys might enjoy some shots of them in action.

Love the flame coming out the stack of the '46. Nice work!

Nice shots. No matter how many times I see or hear about them, I can never get over the fact that they still fly these aircraft.

thank you!! most of us in the midwest & eastern parts of the u.s. aren't privy to see round engined freighters / ex military ww2 era birds earning their salt to this day on a current basis. i wonder if the c-46 has a connection to the old ortner air service here in wakeman ohio?? i could listen to those pistons like music.

Thanks guys, glad you like them.

Here's a couple of them filming for season 2 of Ice Pilots, which starts January 5th.

Jason, thanks for posting the Buffalo pics! Keep 'em coming!

Ice Pilots season 1 is out on DVD, but they don't sell to U.S. buyers! :x How can I get a set? Is it legal for a Canadian to buy the set and then mail it to an American? If so, anyone up there willing to do that?

Cheers,
Dean the propliner freak!

This may have to go in the top ten coolest airplane photos I've ever seen anywhere, period.

Wow, I just discovered this thread! What awesome pictures!

I too, am disappointed that not only does the History Channel block me from watching their Ice Pilots episodes streaming from their website, they also block me from buying their DVD's. I am sooooo angry at them! It's a conspiracy to prevent Americans from watching those beautiful planes fly! :)

Another one from last week. The C-46 takes off in -39C temperatures!
