Greatings from the Netherlands, i have here a peculiar cone, which was dug up 40 years ago or so in the Netherlands, I was wondering what it is. Speculation resulted in that it was a droptank from ww2.
The cone seems to be attachable, with patterns of srewholes and it has a bonding wire glued with a cloth of fabric unto its composite like structure. To the naked eye the material looks like cardboard/resin composite.
Anyone?

Looks like a radome to me. Possibly micarta laminate? The wire could be to keep static electricity from building up which could affect the signal or damage the equipment.

wow if that is a cardboard or composite made drop tank i'm shocked that much is left considering the years that have past & the infancy of that technology in those days!!
