I am not 100% sure, but I believe that there was a thread with photos, within the last couple of years.

Use the search function and you might find what you seek.

Good luck!

Saludos,

Tulio

Here's a vid of Howard Hughes' S-43 located at Brazoria County Airport, TX, date unknown. Don't know if it's still there.

I've got a sales flyer for this aircraft. Hughes Company imprinted folder, 8X10 color transparencies and a letter from Glen Odekirk. Neat to see the couches and think that Katherine Hepburn's naked bum was probably on them (back when anyone was interested in Kate's bum naked or otherwise)

Stopped in at Brazoria County Airport today, thought I'd take a few pics of the Hughes S-43 for any interested parties out there. She looks to be in fair shape, considering she's been sitting for how long? 10 years? Being idle takes its toll, but thank goodness she's hangared, hey?

Below: Murphy's 7th Law: Everything looks better from a distance. Seems there's a bit of possibly ominous looking corrosion along the keel.

Been too long, next time I'm out that way I'll drop in and see what I can see. Will be sure to report back.

Nice pictures! The S-43 is the best looking amphibian.

It's great to see one of the lesser photographed aircraft in the Smithsonian collection. Can't wait to see more progress on its restoration.

Does anyone know how the Smithsonian intends to paint its JRS-1?
