Just looking thru some old photos, and found some from Thunder Over Michigan 2001. I believe back then it was called the "Gathering of Fighters". Interesting mix of aircraft, including a local cargo B747.

Thanks for posting. Wow even see the Kalitta 747 in the background. Was there much of an airshow back then or did the planes just park on static display?

from what I recall, it was just a gathering of static airplanes...I could be wrong. It's amazing how this show has grown, and all the cool airplanes that have been part of it. :)

That was a great show..first time I ever saw the CAF Helldiver. I always thought that "Aleutian Tiger" P-40 was stunning. Whatever happened to that particular aircraft?

I believe that is the ex-Dick Thurman P-40K which, unfortunately in my opinion, looks like this now.

I actually like the P-40 painted that way.

If you want a Flying Tiger P-40, buy an N, E, or earlier. Pretty sure the K was never used by them.

That P-40 looks awesome with the shark mouth. I have a cast iron model of one in that paint scheme.

I am also very partial to the mustang. Very pretty warbird.
