The U.S. S. Enterprise, the worlds first nuclear aircraft carrier made port for the last time today, Sunday Nov. 4, 2012. Now she will undergo decommisioning work prior to being towed to Bremerton WA. for disposal. Once removed and deactivated, her nuclear plants will be stored @ the Hanford Reservation in central Washington State.
Thank You to the ship and everyone who sailed in her for 50 years for keeping my worthless old butt safe, well done!

Well done "Big E"!! (salute)

Dumb question: Why are they towing down it to the 'bottom' of the world and back up again to Bremerton?
I assume her nuclear powerplants will be shipped to WA by rail, once removed.
Couldn't the hull be stored at James River? Just trying to save the taxpayers a few bucks.
I know; dumb idea.

There reallly is no reason for it, other than it's our tax money and the DoD doesn't care since it's not theirs  93 million razor blades comin' right up
