When Pres. Ronald Reagan passed away, I saw this Air Force box truck load the casket in Calif., on AF1.
When it landed at D.C., there was that "same" truck receiving the casket.
Man, that must have been some kind of truck to beat that 747 to the next airport. :lol: :axe:

Since we are mentioning support equipment, when a previous POTUS arrived at the local civilian airport, two A/F-18s circled overhead at about 21,000 feet until he was off the plane and in the limo.
By the way, the camouflage on those F-18's is very good. They made 4 or 5 circuits before we could spot them in the cloudless but, hazy summer sky.

It is not well known but whenever AF 1 flys a USAF Gulfstream (C-20?) also launches but never lands at the same base as AF 1. The USAF has never acknowledged what role the aircraft plays in presidential movement but it has been photographed many times.

The 99th Airlift Squadron, which is part of the Presidential Airlift Group operates the C-37A and C-37B (G-V and G-500/550 respectively). The aircraft are usually used for upper-level cabinet members/Secretaries and Branch Secretaries, but I would suspect one is also used as a contingency aircraft for Presidential visits where the bug-out plan may be putting the POTUS into a smaller airport like USAFA strip in case of needing to "go-to-ground." Back when the 707's were "Air Force One", the VC-130 Jetstars they had were used for the same thing. They were also used for Crew Currency aircraft. I don't know if the C-37s are as well, or if they use the C-21s for that.
