A-10 Warthog Emergency Landing

In case you've missed this, here's a story of performance under pressure in Michigan last month...

A-10, canopy blown off, gear not functioning, multiple radio failures....

Not that I noticed during my time with the 81st TFW...with six squadrons of them the largest IDAF Wing of the period).
I never heard anything bad about them. Compared to their contemporaries they were simplicity itself.
One of the jokes was they had some F-84 parts somewhere in them.

But seriously, the fact that it can take damage and still fly long enough to get the pilot on the ground :)
Look up some of the damage the A-10s took in the first Iraq war.

Just goes to show that the plane is only part of the equation, that the guy behind the stick is what makes it what it is.
In the hands of a lesser, poorly-trained pilot, this could have ended in tears and blood.
