Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the support. A little info about this project. It is the left overs from another project a friend did. He used this aircraft to get all the parts that he needed and I got the rest. It came to me with the tailcone, center section, and boxes of parts. I'm starting the tailcone first. As for serial # all I have is the # painted on the side, 84982. Paul, that is the only thing I have for now. I did hear that this SNJ was on display somewhere in Oakland at some time. Vg-photo , yes you can come over some time and take pics, you can call me at 760-443-1105.
I did think of the USCG scheme, but doing a modern one. I have a few ideas that I'm pondering. I like all dark blue with yellow stripes on the tailcone and wings.
Still frying to figure out the picture thing. I got them to photobucket but I can't get them to this sight were the picture shows up.

You have the wing center section or are you referring to the fuselage tubular center section?

I have the wing center section. I do have some extera parts and will make a list soon, with pics when I can figure that out. I do need many parts but right now I would like to get the tailwheel truniun, and front and rear instrument panels. I do have a G or Harvard 4 instrument panel up for grabs.

Hi everyone,

I went up to see Bruce Orriss today, and I want to thank him for helpping with my SNJ-5 project. I now have a lot more parts to work with and the dream is coming closer. I just have to do all the hard work.

Thanks Bruce !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Who is Bruce Oriss and what does he have? I just bought some stuff from Fritz Mehrer who I believe is down your way.

Would you consider posting pictures of the restoration as it progresses? Sort of like what Gary Austin did for the CAF B-24. I know this would provide an opening for lots of critism, especially from those who have never touched a warbird, but for the people doing restorations it's always a source of inspiration.

bdk,

Bruce is one of the guys that provides planes for the movies. He has been around the warbird seen for many years. The projects he has are mostly spoken for. I know he is working on a F-86, a couple T-6's and will be doing a B-25 and DC-3 next. He is based in LA. I will try to post some pics of his place soon.
I know Fritz. I helped him restore his Stearman and Harvard 4. I'm also working on his SNJ-5 project. His hanger is two down from mine.

Bill,

I'm working with Ryan Keough right now. He is helping me set up a project blog site. I will be sharing this with everyone so you guys can see the progress. If any one is in my area and wants to stop by, that would be great. I have to be to work at 3pm, so you have to come by in the morning.

Eric,

Good luck on the Six. From the sounds of it, you have a look of moral support and experienced Six restorers near. That will be priceless.

Best,

Patrick

Another question jus came to mind. What parts should be jigged? I have seen WC's and wings with no jig and some with. Horizontals and Verticals Stab, yes jig?

If you have made a jig, could you please post the drawing?

Thanks in advance.

Patrick

Looks a lot like what I drug home 11+ years ago! :)

Good luck with it.

Is Bruce selling T-6 parts? If so, could you PM his contact info
to me (I've managed to lose it over the years.... his contact
info that is!).

Thanks,

Bela P. Havasreti

Hi everyone,

pilot06- Far as I know about Jigs, is that if you are doing major repairs to the fuselage tube frame you need one, the wing center section will need one, and if you are rebuilding the wings you will need one.
I haven't started doing any of those repairs yet, so I haven't made or bought the Jigs yet.

Eric Friedebach- I will post a list in the future. I have everything boxed up for my move to Tennessee. I will have more pics and a good list in Febuary.

snj-5 and bdk- I'm going to go up to Bruce's Sunday and I will ask him if I can share his info. I don't what to do that without his permision first.[/quote]
