Hi Rick, We borrowed the sling from Bob S and the good folks at Sabreliner. It was the fastest way to get our engine out. I bought the rails to adapt to our trailer to eventually make the fixture like you mention and roll the engine out. It was going to take me too long to make it as the airplane isn't at home in our hangar. I'll work on building that this summer when the winter maint is finished. We're pretty busy right now with removing a lower wing off the Stearman, T2 condition inspection, F86 squawks while waiting for an engine and the A4. Looking forward to getting these birds off the ground. How are things going down South?

Things are going great ! We had the Huey out with the bombers this weekend and flew 6 revenue flights with the Huey yesterday. Would've had more today but we had no pilot.
Plan to take it to Victoria tomorrow . Skyhawk is ready to go and we are close to flying the F-4.

Hi Henning,
Good to hear from you! Winter is finally letting go and we might get some decent flying weather soon. Busy is an understatement. There's a lot going on with the Foundations airplanes. We have a few too many under going maint right now. We should have 2 of them back up in the next couple of weeks. The Stearman will be down for an extended period while the left lower wing is being worked on. Still waiting on the engine for the Sabre. I'm working on finishing the few squawks that are left on that one. The A4 is really turning out to be in good condition considering how long it sat idle. We'll be back up in Oshkosh on Saturday to do a thorough visual inspection as we have it as far apart as we need to go. Time to fix squawks and put her back together.

Thanks for checking on us. We haven't done much with the A4 lately. Still need engine components back from the repair shop, then we can get back on it and focus on getting her up and running. The last month has been spent on the condition inspection on the T2. All went well and we'll fly it some time this week. Quick update on the A4 for those of you following our progress. We now have a spare engine and it is at Aeroturbine for inspection and repair. We're still on target to get engine components back the end of this month so things should be picking up again on this project. We also have quite a few spare parts that we need that will be here hopefully in about 2 weeks. That should enable us to work on the remaining squawks before we reinstall the engine. I'll post some new photos as we start back on this project.

David, CF TA-4 did two flights today. Hope to get some pictures up soon. Our flight training program is getting spooled up.

Our spare parts showed up on Saturday, so we spent a few hours unloading them.
Now we'll start going through them and get back on to our project. These should allow us to make some progress while we wait on the engine parts.

Dave, years ago the second owner of record was going to donate 4 of those aircraft to the Foundation. Obviously it never happened. We did go out and write down BuNos to let him know which ones we preferred. One was a C without the avionics hump. It was on the end and it looked like the paint had been burned off by the sun. Out there, in the desert sun it glowed positively golden. It may have been your parts aircraft.

Hi Rick,
It's definitely seen a little sun. The BU# is 148500. It's amazing how well preserved it looks on the inside when we open up some of the panels. We have it for spares, but it was disassembled such that it could remain a viable project in the future if we decide to sell it. Do you know a good way to remove the spraylat? That is some tough stuff.
