List of manufacturer part number codes

Wed Jun 04, 2008 2:51 pm

Does anyone have a list of the part number prefixes from the various manufacturers.
People tell me that Vultee is 61 or 63 and North American is 22

is there a master list that I can get that lists the prefixes for all the manufacturers or baring that, the manufacturers in WW2?

Actually, any numbers would help.

thanks

Try this link at the Aviation Archeology website. It seems pretty comprehensive.

Here are some more on numbering systems. The first two pages are from a T-28 Parts Catalog, but should apply to any NAA aircraft.

This is from a Stearman Parts Catalog. IIRC you had some duster parts, so it wouldn’t be unreasonable to assume that you may have some Stearman stuff. Look for part numbers that start with 75. If you have any aluminum castings that have 75-1100 series numbers or 75-1200 series, those are particularly valuable!

Thanks
that information has been a big help in identifying the parts.
The Snow crop dusters were built out of lots of different War Surplus parts, even the planes built 20 years after the war was over. Old Leland Snow must have been a frugal man.
