A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

Most tech books I've read identify the P-26 prop as a ground-adjustable unit. That seems to match up with every Peashooter photo I've seen - nary a counterweight in sight.
On the other hand, I picked up a book the other day that includes a cockpit photo of the P-26. The caption says one of the throttle quadrant levers is the prop control.
Anyone know if the 'Shooters ever had controllable-pitch props?

Might it have been a two position prop? I think that before propeller governors became plentiful lots of aircraft had two position props, coarse and fine pitch.
