For those of you in the Dallas area, the CAF B-29/B-24 Squadron has partnered with the Vintage Flying Museum and the folks with Pacific Prowler to host a Open House/Fly Weekend.

We will be at Texas Jet (northeast part of Meacham Airport) all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We have two flights scheduled for FIFI each day; one in the morning, and one in the evening. When FIFI is not in flight she will be open for cockpit tours (for a $5 donation). I know WIX'er Zane Adams and others will be there.

This is your chance to see and hear FIFI in her natural element before she heads back out. Also take the time to thank people like Dave Miller who has been busting his behind the past couple of years returning her to the air, and now keeping her there!

Fly safe,

Chris

Texas Jet is on the north end of the field. There are signs out on the road and you can see the airplane from the road.

Had a great day out there yesterday! Thanks to all the CAF folks for the opportunity to hang out and help a little. Talked to a lot of interesting people while helping to give cockpit tours. Finally got to meet Dave and Chris too!

Hot and sweaty out there but thanks to Texas Jet it was tolerable on the flight deck after they brought out their portable air conditioner! WOOT!

Here's a little video I shot while they were taxiing back in after a flight.

Has 'FiFi' made the trip to Grand Junction CO for the airshow on the weekend of the 8-10 July? I'm getting some reports that they sent the B-24 (again) instead....what's the story?

The B-25 "Show Me" was sent by headquarters instead of "FIFI". The operations staff of the squadron took a look at the approach into Rifle, Colorado and coupled with the relatively short and narrow runway they decided that they were uncomfortable with the situation if an engine failed etc. This was compounded by the very real issue of density altitude at Rifle. This decision was made months ago.

Cool. Not sure I can get there super early because of the Boy, but we'll try.

Will she be open for tours Friday morning (7-29) in Oshkosh? If so how much? I'd love to take a walk through her. Really looking forward to seeing her fly in the Warbirds show. The B-29 has always been my favorite warbird.

The plan is to have her available for tours on Friday. However due to the arrival of the 787 and our flight in the show, we do not know how much we will be open. We will be available to tours Tuesday (late afternoone) through Sunday morning.

With only a few days left to go for "FIFI" in the 2011 tour season we are celebrating 100 Historic Flight Experience flights.

To date "FIFI" has flown in excess of 100 hours and completing all of her tour stops. We have had a few minor mechanical issues come up in the course of the year, but nothing that has prohibited "FIFI" from making a scheduled stop/airshow!

This is a huge testament to the work of our flight and maintenance crews!

This weekend "FIFI" will be at Randolph AFB for their open house and airshow before she returns to Addison for winter maintenance.

I would like to take a moment to salute the men like Rick, Dave, John, Chief, Brad and many others who have allowed 2011 to be one of the most successful in squadron history!
