If that plane had some good engines the stinking birds wouldn't hurt it.
And that strat woudn't have come down if it wasn't for having bad propellers and prop control system.

I'm not sure what a "good engine" would be. In my 30 years of working on heavy jets, I've seen engines from Pratt & Whitney, GE, Rolls Royce, and CFM (the one that was on the A320) taken out by bird strikes. Any bird large enough (or too many small ones) is going to disable a jet engine, no matter what company built it.

Ah yes any jet engine. Thats not a good engine.
It would take lots of birds to kill an old recip.
And the recip would burn a heck lot less fuel too boot.
Make that a modern diesel recip, with alternate air inlets and a million birds at once wouldn't kill the engines. And would save about 2/3rd's the fuel that the best ever, jet could. Not only would these fuel effcient engines live the same hours that is advertized for jet engines, but at overhaul time the costs would be probably way less than 1/10 of what a jet engine overhaul costs. Speed is not an issue they are slowing up the jet liners now. And besides proper modern design could get compariable speeds for a recip plane. A P51 will fly along side a 737 pretty much, and thats old school stuff.
