The upper turret is also coming along well, most of it has been reasembled. Only one of the .50's is real the other is made of wood, this is only temporary though.

Just a note, your real .50 is actually an M3 which is a high rate of fire post-war version of the M2 aircraft gun. You can tell by the large diameter buffer on the back end (and there are internal differences as well). If you are restoring to WW2 vintage and want to install replica guns, don't copy that one!

I completely missed the last 2 posts in here. I've been away for a while and forgot to check the thread. We do have both wing tips but they are both in pretty bad shape. If you still have it I'll see if we could use it or not. Give me a day or two to find out.

Thanks for the info on the gun BDK, I'm sure they now that. I'm not the gun expert. I'm not sure if that's the one that is going to be on there when it's done, I think it's just for show right now since that's the only one we have.

As for updates there really isn't much. Since the weather has been good here we've been focusing on paint stripping as much as we can. Right now we're starting to prepare for the airshow at the end of the month.

The mid-upper turret has been temporarily assembled so it can be on display at the airshow.

Just wanted to post this and see if anyone has or knows of anyone who has any of these items that we are looking for and is willing to let them go. We've found a few turrets but everyone we've come across the owner doesn't want to part with it.

-front and rear turrets
-centre section large oxygen bottles (the long 4' green ones)
-bomb bay doors (extrusions)
-mid upper turret ring (mounting adapter)
-4 rolls royce merlin carburetors pd-16
-sprocket box under the pilots seat on front spar
-counterweights for the tail section (large)
-propellor governors to control pitch of blade

The large counterweights for the rudders are all there. The outer ones were removed when the lanc was moved and refitted later on. They are looking for the elevator mass balance weights though.

I really have no idea what they are looking for, the description I got from James was for the ones on the vertical stabalizer.

With the airshow coming up work is going to be slowing down for the next couple weeks.

EDIT: Yep just talked to him again and the ones for the vertical stabalizer are what we need.

Ok thanks that clarifies things a bit. If you can find out if FM212 had Fabric covered elevators then they will not need the bulky balance weights. These were only installed on the lancs that had fabric elevators. FM213 has the all metal elevators installed and you can see that the balance weights are not fitted.

I believe the elevators are already metal. We don't need those balance weights, for some reason, and I don't know why we need 2 more of the weights for the vertical stabalizers.

To tell you the truth I'm not really sure, they're taking things really slowly right now. Trying focus on raising funds. Right now basically everything has been put on hold except for paint stripping, the port wingtip and the engines. They're still figuring it'll be about 10 years (probably longer) until she is done.

Not much in the way of major updates at the moment. A few weeks ago we recieved our first set of restored (airwothy) props from Hope Aero in Toronto. Right after the airshow we put the Lanc back in the hut, out of the elements. It's not certain yet but this past summer may have been the last time she comes out for quite some time. Since the weather hasn't been the greatest everyone is working on small projects that can be done indoors, engines, wing tip, etc. Hopefully I'll have some bigger updates for you guys in the coming months.
