I looked up both your birds, and in case you don't have it, their histories are below (I don't have full records for 52-2017). Looks like it didn't go to Europe, but your H-5 did. I think I may have photos showing this phase. Will look up later.

Thanks for the info on the airframes. After doing more research on the F-86H-1, it may actually have been misidentified by various sources as 52-2017. I have found no panels with the #17 on them. The nose gear has 79 on the door which is the marking for airframe 52-2079. There are still a few more panels to pull and check. The search continues.
