Grumman Wildcat FM1 restoration. Looking for blueprints

Wed Oct 18, 2017 4:27 am

We are restoring an FM1 to non flying display standard. The aircraft was recovered from a freshwater lough following its ditching in 1944. It has been largely rebuilt but we are struggling to find fully dimensioned drawings of the fuselage and cowlings. We have some help from Kalamazoo Air Zoo with detailed drawings of the tail fairing. We are hoping to identify an organisation who has a full digital blueprint set for the aircraft. Any help would be appreciated. Nick Rogers, Volunteer, Ulster Aviation Society.

Don't know if it will help but FM-2 blueprints available at www.aircorpslibrary.com.

Take care,

Eric

You need to look for the F4F blueprints, not the FM-2 if you cannot find any for the FM-1. The FM-1 is the same basic airframe as the F4F with 2 guns in the wings instead of 3.

FM-2 had physical differences.
