Our Stampe, a Belgian SV4B, #16 when it was in service, is moving along very well in its repair/recovering. One thing we could use is a nose chin-cowl, or chin-bowl. Ours is repairable, but if anyone knows of one in good condition, we'd be interested. Thanks, Dave |

Can't help with the chin cowl, but I remember when there were one or a few floating around Chino after the film High Road to China was released. How does it fly? Like a Tiger Moth? |

Should not be a problem if you don't mind searching in Belgium. Contact the Stampe museum http://www.stampe.be/UK/IndexUK.html or Raymond Aircraft restorations http://www.rar.be/pages/home.html |

Thanks, but the reason we need a chin cowl is the reason everyone else has needed a chin cowl, and there aren't any. A previous owner of ours found out that in a Stampe, the brakes are used as a taxying aid, not for slowing down after landing. Rollasons made a few in fiberglass. Others are making them in exopy/glass. I've had no luck with those sources, so we'll repair ours. |

Hey Dave. These guys do custom cowls. Top quality work, for which I'm sure they charge accordingly. http://www.unique-df.co.uk/cowls/ Andy |

Thanks, Andy. For some reason I didn't see your post until now. My general and rather extensive experience with restorations has led me to avoid the UK, and build local, whenever possible. I think we'll repair the one we have, but I will contact that outfit for a quote. Cheers, Dave |
