I have been working on the Urbana B-17, The Champaign Lady since the beginning of the project. I'll try to post some photos of the work that I am doing.
One of the project several members of our team have been working on the past few years are the elevator ribs. We make a particle board form that is slightly smaller than the final rib. We form a sheet of aluminum around the particle board and then cut, drill and shape the aluminum to the final dimensions. It takes 19 hours to make a pair of ribs (one left hand and one right hand), so that is 9.5 hours per rib. As all the ribs are different sizes we only get to use our particle board form for the two ribs before we have to make a new form. And there are about 20 ribs for each elevator.
