Did he fly his Spitfire?
I've seen reference to others flying it, but not himself.
Also, anyone have details on his Bf-108?

The 108/Nord is now at Creve Coeur Airport and is owned by a local Doctor who also has a 208 project, a FW-190 kit project, and a nice 109 project. The 108 is in the middle of a very detailed annual. Many parts are being overhauled so it can fly on a regular basis. The 108/Nord is one of those airplane types that present interesting and unique challenges if somebody is trying to keep one flyable on a regular basis. In my opinion, it takes a special kind of person to opearte one and I think this airplane has found that special person to own it. You have to really want to own something like this and I think Cliff was really happy to see what the Doc has been doing with the plane when he was here last year.

Just got back from the Sacramento Air Show and I hear this sad news. :(
Great guy. I've met him several times over the years, had several long conversations, and each time was a pleasure. He even flew the Gustav Whitehead Replica at Sikorsky Memorial Airport back in the early 1990's.
FYI, his old ME-108 was destroyed in a hangar fire at Ansonia Airport, just a few miles from my house.
Alas, time waits for no man.
Godspeed, Mr. Robertson.
Jerry

i had the honor of shaking his hand, talked briefly with him & got his autograph at the aviation hall of fame's 2003 induction dinner which also was the 100th anniversary of manned flight. he himself is an inductee & was very active with that organization. god bless :spit
