My father in law passed away this year as well....helped build the runways at Iwo and Tinian...who knows...he may have run into your Dad in the mess...

I kept his spirits up by promising to take him to see B-29 Fifi when it came close on its tour. He didn't make it but my fellow CAF member Joe waggled the wings for him once during the Cincy visit.

Im sure they are both upstairs talking about Tinian right now...

I too am sorry for your loss particularly at this time of year, I sure miss my Dad and Mom @ this time too. Take your time getting through it, I tried to push it after Dad died and suffered some mild depression for a while-
Strength buddy, strength and time.

I always like this quote.

"And when he gets to Heaven,
To Saint Peter he will tell,
One more soldier reporting Sir,
I've already served my time in hell."

Condolences are sent, without the sacrifice of men like your father we would be where we are today!

I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family. Although, my Father has been dead for many years, I still remember. This post was particularly poignant as December 20th would have been his birthday. Grief is normal , expected and hard. In time, I hope you will remember the good times with your Father without the pain.
