I agree, as do I'd bet most others reading on this forum.
Just saying how "mainstream" young people saw it based on their reactions. My friend said more than one person per class made the same comment, which he had to admit didn't really surprise him.

If the producers were that concerned about such opinions, they could easily switch the races of the two characters.
It wouldn't be the first time "Hollywood" changed history.

I knew they were filming a lot of the scenes in Savannah, but I was surprised when my dad told me yesterday that the ANG hangar at KSAV was full of Corsairs! I guess they're doing a fair amount of the flying around the Savannah area as well. I was wondering how they were going to do the carrier scenes, and then I read this article: https://www.statesboroherald.com/local/warplanes-aircraft-carrier-statesboro/ Pretty neat!

I may have to make a trip back home to try and catch some of the "action." Article says they'll be filming this month and into April.

Phil, thanks for sharing that. The carrier island looks very good. $90M budget, huh?
Glad to hear all this and see what looks like a good level of detail on the seat and uniforms from what I could see. I was worried this would be another low-budget "talking head" movie and I'm glad to see it isn't looking like it'll be one of those.
Seeing the carrier deck are being shot outside is especially good to see. The lighting won't have the same "eternal overcast" look of studio shots and CGI that, say, "Midway" had.

Fly Past magazine has a brief story about it in the current issue, but it isn't much more than you can see in this thread.
I haven't heard anything else about it. I keep reading they were going to film the crash scenes somewhere in Washington State and I'd love to know where. I know a few Korean war living historians (including a guy I know with an excellent North Korean impression) in this state who would have loved to have been involved somehow...
