OMG - I have no connection to the Graces, but for so many years I've admired and followed from afar their entire family's dedication to the warbird community, that I'm devastated by this news. This is so awful to hear.

Never met her -- sure wish I had, because from across the ocean I greatly admired her accomplishments. Tragic loss.

Sincerest sympathies to the family.

A tragic irony is that her husband Nick was also killed in a car crash back in 1988.

The Grace Spitfire which both she and Nick flew over the past decades was operated by 485 (NZ) Squadron and got the first kill on D-Day. Pilot that day, Johnnie Houlton, was able to met Carolyn (and his Spit) back in the 90s

RIP Carolyn.

Terribly sad.
I knew her from frequent FlyPast articles that highlighted her as well as her son, Richard, who operates Air Leasing, a warbird restoration shop.

There are many moving tributes on the firm's facebook page (The Grace Spitfire), she was a great ambassador for the warbird movement.

Rest in Peace.

Richard was in the car but fortunately had minor injuries and I believe was out of hospital fairly quickly. I feel so awful for him and his sister Olivia.
