This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Probably not the "new project", but will the A-36 be bedding down with you guys during the year or will it stay down south?

"New project alert."
It is a nice one if I am guessing correctly. I missed it by one day... Even so I am excited to see it get put back together since it seems like you will be putting in the gun rail etc. Would love to see it in the documented scheme.

Randy is using Insider Information and shouldn't be trusted.
Besides I guess I over worked him as he ran off and didn't return.
That "I have to go fly today" excuse gets pretty old after awhile.

My son wondering what he should do next?

Wings unwrapped for the 1st time in years-

My son wondering what he should do next-

A little history from memory-
SNJ-3
Built the last week of 1941. For those who are flight instructors in the USAF that would be December.
BU 01796
Originally purchased in North Carolina in 1946. The outline of the original NCXXXX can still be seen in the lower wing.
Restoration started in the early 1980s. 6 owners later we will finish it up. It last traded hands in 1997 and has been stored in a barn since early 2000s.
It comes with all the logs back to its acceptance flight for the USN.
O/H Corpus Christi NAS 1944.

Looks like you've got another nice project on your hands there Rich. Are you guys going to paint it up as it would've looked at NAS Corpus in 1944?

Since it is an early War example we will look through its records and find squadrons or units it flew with and see if we can recreate its markings from around 1942.
There is a filmstrip series produced and one was "An Introduction to the SNJ-3". This airframe was one of the aircraft featured in the filmstrip as relayed to me by the previous owner. If true that could also be a source of a scheme.

Just judging from what I can see, and realizing that it's what you don't see in initial images that provides most of the work, it looks to me like this bird has traveled well through storage and will restore beautifully.
Best of luck with the project.
