Having now seen it in person the colors are more subdued than they appear in the previously posted pics. Even on a bright and sunny Casa Grande morning! When I first saw the pics in this thread I was a bit taken aback with the colors but I had no such reaction at all when viewing the real deal. I'm no Luftwaffe color expert by any means but the colors in the pics (even my own posted below) do not really depict accurately the finished product.

Whew, that's comforting to know! I do like your picture better than the official FHC ones. In your picture, the colors look much more realistic. Any more pictures to show? I would love to see some close-ups of the engine. Any idea on when it is leaving for Washington?

Thanks. :)

the FHC's Fw is looking good, the paint has flattened out as it dried and it looks good. We now have mine in the paint and here are the first picutes of it, we still have to do the markings but the camo is completed

Your 190 is looking good Dano! Thanks for the update.

I think the FCH 190 looks pretty good too. I'm glad to hear Chads opinion after seeing it in person.

I learned when painting my new house how much paint color can vary in the light.
I got lot's of quart samples and put them on bare wood sideing.
In the shade an off white seemed to have enough yellow tint, but when the sun hit that side it washed out all the color and made it seem too plain.
I had to find an in between.
Don't know if a plane is quite as much.

I do know that on my plane the sort of semi gloss paint looks flat in the sun, but has a bit of a sheen when it is in the shade that I like.

That FW looks great, whatever the color, man I'd love to fly it, VERY CAREFULLY, OF COURSE.

I did take a couple more snaps but they are all pretty much the same shot. The airplane was within the fenced Gosshawk compound and we were not able to get close enough for any detail shots. There was a gentleman with some very serious looking camera equipment who was taking pictures of the airplane and I am assuming he was either an official FHC photog or from some aviation publication. Thus, I would guess that detail shots will be available from some source before too long. Here is another of my shots, zoomed in a bit more. I'm using an inexpensive point and shoot so they are what they are! Nobody every approached close enough to speak with so I was unable to ask about a time line for the departure of the airplane. I was hoping somebody associated with the project might post that info here on WIX as I would make every effort to be there for the event!

It does look a lot better now it has flattened/toned down.

Whatever, the colours are not going to change. I do look forward to seeing her flying with the ETC and cannons though of course will not be bying the magazine that will be showing it first.

Hope to write a bit on her in the summer with all the info anf photos on the pilot etc.

@dano: Dan, thanks for posting your pics.Your plane looks great, I can´t wait to see pics of it finished and in the air. IMHO your paint scheme emphasizes the beauty of the 190.

@C Veich: Your pics of the FHC Fw 190 tell a different story in comparison to the ones by FHC, taken when the paint was fresh. And as you wrote, that the plane even looks better in reality means to me that the paint job is much better than suspected initially. Thanks for your pics.

Only shame is that I most probably won´t be able to see this 190 in person. Well, but who knows, never say never.
Both birds look great, my gut says they do give the right impression how those 190´s have been when there were lots of them around. Indeed a rare breed of birds, thanks they are alive again.

I´d say it looks pretty close to your photo reference, given that yours were taken indoors, with a flash - and of course allowing for the vagaries of photography/scanning/monitors and so on.

Forgive me if someone has already addressed this, but it appears that this Fw190 has been painted in the unique - but accurate - colors of a JG 54 190A-4 c. 1943, Eastern Front aircraft.

There is a rather famous color photograph of these machines, and I have a piece of a painted cowling in my collection. Based upon that, the only thing I might challenge is the yellow - which on my piece is a German Gelb 27, as opposed to the more "red" Gelb 04 that they used in this restoration. But different aircraft may have been different. Splitting hairs in any case! :)

Looks cool to me. I'd sure like to see it fly, or, minus that - hear it fly!

Can't wait to see it in the Arizona skies Dano. Will you be keeping it at Case Grande or elsewhere if I may ask?
