Have you ever wondered what it's like to fly in FIFI? Well, Randy Wilson was kind enough to host a video I made on his website that shows a small glimpse of what it looks like on a typical flight........from the inside, looking out. The only exterior shot of the airplane is from the "long line" position, as the engines are being started.

Enjoy.......

PS The movie is a touch over 4 minutes long, so it may take just a little while to load on your computer.

Many thanks, Gary!

I never got to ride in her, but in the early 90's got to hold the left-seat brakes during an engine run--simply because I was the only other guy on the ramp that morning following some late-night maint. During the video start-up, I started feeling that 72-cylinder salute in the seat of my pants again; the little hairs on my neck at attention.

I could kick myself for not remembering the flight engineer's name!

That's just out-dam-standing. I caught myself sitting here with my mouth open during the whole thing. The accompanying music really topped it off. Excellent selection.

Mudge the agape

Thanks for the comments y'all. I just thought it would be neat for everyone to see what it was like to be in the airplane waaaaay back when it flew. You know, back before I started my winter maintenance on it. :?

I was told recently by a somewhat disgruntled ol' volunteer that I was "the one and only single reason that FIFI hasn't flown in nearly two years now." Perhaps he was right, but I obviously had pretty good reasons for doing the repairs we did.

I made that movie early last summer, just after we parked it yet one more time following this latest engine issue. Man, it was tough editing all of those flying scenes, I gotta tell you. Anyway, I wanted it to be a good view of what it's like from the inside, looking out. And I wanted it to be a nice tribute to our vets.

Thanks again for the nice comments. Glad y'all like it.

Gary
