nr pont du fahs 29-december '42, in book Kagero ML 08 HS129 in combat , Pg 44/45/46
OberLt Oswald hit by AA fire bellylanded his aircraft into a lake and then swam to shore , evaded and returned to the german lines.
an interesting thought a HS129 in a lake in north africa.

Certainly worth following up, as it is a unique aircraft. A good chance the fuselage at least should have survived the impact well, as the front end is heavily armoured.... I was able to see that first hand during a visit to see the cockpit / nose section under restoration with Martin Mednis.
There was a wreck of one found in Sth. Russia back in 1996, unfortunatley those who found it didn't know what it was and took it to the scrapper :cry:
