Found this....

CORSICANA, Texas (AP) - A vintage World War II plane crashed in a pasture shortly after it took off Saturday, killing two men, authorities said.

Witnesses Jeff Horn and his wife, Dora, told the Corsicana Daily Sun that the 1943 Fairchild PT26 had just taken off from the Corsicana Municipal Airport when the engine stalled, sending the plane crashing to the ground.

Passenger Robert Burleson of Corsicana was killed. The pilot, Cliff McCluney of Kerens, died later at a hospital. Authorities said both men were in their 60s.

The Federal Aviation Administration, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the local sheriff's department were investigating.

Corsicana is about 50 miles south of Dallas.

Cliff was a good friend, who gave me a lot of encouragement in the ongoing restoration of my PT-26. He purchased a PT-23 project from me a year or so ago as a long term project for one of the CAF wings down in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to be used as a membership drive tool for the CAF. His efforts at introducing more people, (and younger people) to Warbirds in general and the CAF and Fairchild Primary Trainers in particular will be missed. He was a GREAT guy, and I know he loved his Fairchild PT-26.

This is a real bummer.

I pray that the Lord gives these two families the peace that they need right now.

Steve

It is always very sad to hear about the loss of life in a warbird accident. Even though I rarely know the people involved, such an accident also has an impact on the families of those lost. My thoughts are with those grieving.

I am also very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend Steve.

Mike
